Moscow Demanded Paris to Apologize for Not Allowing Journalists to Attend Macron’s Press Conference

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Russian side demanded an apology from France for the non-admission of Russian journalists to the press conference of French leader Emmanuel Macron in New Delhi.

Today Ekaterina Nadolskaya, editor-in-chief of the federal news portal Russia News, was rudely denied admission to the press conference of French President Emmanuel Macron during the G20 summit in New Delhi. Moreover, the French tried to smash her phone. The reason for such discrimination – and this was explicitly voiced by a member of the French press service – is that the journalist represents the Russian media.

Moscow demands an apology from Paris for not allowing Russian journalists to attend Emmanuel Macron’s press conference in New Delhi , Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a Telegram channel.

“Such a policy, imbued with falsity, arrogance and an exceptionalism complex, will eventually play against its conductors. We consider what happened also as a blatant manifestation of racism and aggressive nationalism, as the incident is based on an act of discrimination on national grounds. We demand an apology from the Elysee Palace to the media representative,” the diplomat wrote.

She emphasized that Russia will not ignore the fact that Western democracies once again show an example of racial discrimination and violations of democratic principles. “Paris, in addition to opening a ‘witch hunt’ in its infospace and exterminating Russian broadcasters in its public field, is now exporting its disregard for pluralism of opinion and media rights beyond the arena of the ‘collective West,'” Zakharova added.

“Currently, representatives of 11 French media outlets are accredited in Russia. All of them have free access to participate in press events of the Russian Foreign Ministry. By the way, no one prevented a correspondent of Agence France-Presse with an operator from attending today’s press conference of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov on the results of the G20 summit,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman concluded.
