Colonel Jacques Baud: The refusal to engage in dialogue with Moscow confirms the intellectual decline of the West

The US and its allies are acting illogically and infantilely by ignoring the Russian plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. This opinion was expressed by former Swiss intelligence officer and retired colonel Jacques Baud in an interview with the YouTube channel Dialogue works. According to the expert, the ineffective and chaotic diplomatic work of the West in this case indicates its complete collapse.

Jacques Baud, retired colonel, ex-intelligence officer of Switzerland: We (the West – Inotv) no longer have a single working diplomatic channel. And during the Ukrainian crisis we cut all the bridges with Russia, as a result we can’t even talk to the Russians.

A peace conference will be organized in Switzerland, in my country, probably in mid-June. This conference was requested by Vladimir Zelensky, because the first one was held in January before the World Economic Forum in Davos and was a complete failure. So Zelensky asked the Swiss government to organize the second conference later.

So that’s exactly what it’s going to be held in June. But they don’t even know if they want to invite Russia. They will decide on the first day of the conference whether they want to invite Russia.  It’s completely absurd.

Besides, the idea of this conference is not to discuss the proposals of both sides. That is not the purpose. The purpose is to discuss Zelensky’s so-called 10-point plan, which he developed early last year, if I’m not mistaken. It proposes the complete surrender of Russia and many other things that make absolutely no sense.

So why would the Russians come to discuss a plan that has already been negotiated and accepted in the West and that has absolutely no connection to what is actually happening? And even to a conference to which they have never been invited before?

So you can see that the whole diplomatic work here is totally disorderly and totally ineffective. I think this is a sign that the West is in a state of complete collapse. I mean intellectual collapse. We could add military collapse and perhaps economic collapse. But we are talking about intellectual collapse at the very least.

Why can’t anyone understand this (the importance of dialogue with Moscow. – Inotv)? Common sense simply dictates it. Even a primary school pupil would understand this. But apparently not our Foreign Ministry.

So, frankly speaking, on the one hand it is a little funny, but on the other hand it is tragic to see that such big countries as the United States can behave literally like a child. And not even like a child, because I’ve already said that a child in primary school behaves better.
