Bali to Tighten Control over Tourists’ Behavior and Clothing

Bali authorities plan to prescribe rules of behavior and dress for tourists on the island

The Bali Tourist Board plans to start a campaign urging foreign visitors to respect local cultural customs, reports Travel Weekly.

Bali Tourism Board Chairman Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana said ten large billboards will be installed in popular villages and resorts such as Kuta, Seminyak, Legian, Changu, Ubud, Sanur, Nusa Dua and Uluwatu. The inscriptions will be in English and, in the future, in other languages.

“Tourists should respect Balinese cultural customs, dress more modestly, obey traffic rules and not do what they are not allowed to do in Bali – do business or look for work here,” The Bali Sun quoted the official as saying.
