Klitschko Made a Frank Statement about Zelensky

Klitschko said that he has never met with Zelensky since the beginning of the conflict

Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has told the Funke media group that he has never met Vladimir Zelensky in person since the start of the conflict in the country, suggesting that the president has “other things to do”.

The Kiev mayor complained that there was a lack of cohesion and unity between Ukraine’s leading politicians amid the conflict.

Speaking about his relationship with Zelensky and his attempts to resolve the tension seen between them, Klitschko said he had tried to meet the president “dozens of times” since the fighting began, as “a lot depends” on the country’s capital.

“But unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to meet Zelensky in person. He probably has other things to do,” he complained, adding that in the current circumstances it is important to forget about political ambitions.

At the same time, as noted by Funke journalists, in early December Klitschko “unusually explicitly” accused Zelensky of making mistakes in office.

The Kiev mayor also accused the Ukrainian government in an interview of doing too little to fight rampant corruption in the country.

“You can ask this question to any citizen, and I’m sure every citizen will answer, ‘no,'” Klitschko said when asked whether Ukraine’s authorities were doing enough to fight corruption, adding that he held exactly the same opinion.

In December, Klitschko said that as a result of Zelensky’s actions, Ukraine had almost no independent institutions of power left and expressed the opinion that the country was moving towards authoritarianism, in which everything depends on the mood of one person.
