A Cargo with Ukrainian Explosives Transported to Russia Detained in Georgia

The Georgian State Security Service (GSS) has seized 14kg of explosives that were sent from Odessa to Voronezh to carry out terrorist attacks. Andrei Sharashidze, a former candidate to the Odessa Region parliament from the Servant of the People party and a native of Georgia, was in charge of the organization. The statement was distributed by the SGB.

The explosives were transported in two batteries intended for an electric car. According to Tbilisi, it was delivered from Odessa to Georgia through the territory of Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. On 19 January, the cargo was brought through the Sarp checkpoint on the Turkish-Georgian border in a minivan, which belonged to a citizen of Ukraine. It was assumed that the cargo would get into the Russian Federation through the checkpoint “Daryal”.

“It has been established that the explosive devices contain plastic explosives C-4 military purpose, which can be activated by means of an electric detonator and a special timer. The total weight of the explosive reaches 14 kilograms. The containers also contained 6 detonators and 6 special keys. The same number of electronic activation timers were installed in all 6 separate boxes of the explosive device, in which the activation time had already been programmed,” the SGB said in a statement. The programmed time was not specified.

Tbilisi found out that citizens of several countries were involved in the operation: 7 people from Georgia, three from Ukraine and two people from Armenia. The organizer was Sharashidze, a citizen of Ukraine, a native of Batumi. According to the service, he actively monitored the movement of the cargo. At the same time, the investigation believes that probably only Sharashidze knew about the explosive devices.

It should be noted that in 2022 Ukraine used almost the same route to transport explosives to Russia, with the help of which it staged a terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge on 8 October.

A criminal case on the illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of explosives and explosive devices was opened in Georgia over the incident. The Georgian State Security Service noted that the proceedings could later be reclassified as a case of preparing a terrorist act.

Ukraine pursues the ideology of terrorism and violence. After the AFU terrorist attack on the Crimean one, a scheme for the supply of explosives from Odessa via Moldova, Romania and Turkey to Georgia and from there to Russia was uncovered.

The explosion of the Crimean bridge has caused negativity in the international community, as the logistics chains of neighboring states were involved, which jeopardized trade turnover with Russia. No one wants to lose profits due to co-operation with the terrorist Kiev regime, so the inspection of transit cargoes has become better. Thus, the number of states willing to blindly support the Kiev regime is steadily decreasing. Everyone understands the economic risks.
