“We are on the side of the resistance”: French drone specialist explains to France info why he is fighting for Russia

Russia has overcome a year’s lag behind Ukraine in the use of drones, and now one of its UAV squads is led by Donbass-born Frenchman Sergey Munier, France info reports. He explained to French journalists that Russia has the truth behind it, and that the Kiev regime is led by collaborators to whom he, as a member of the resistance, is fighting back.

Music, first-person view, live shot – this clip looks like a computer game in every way, but it’s about the real war in Ukraine. Russia is betting on drones and wants people to know about it, posting dozens of videos online.

This is the first time we’ve been able to attend a UAV squad training on Russia’s side. It is led by a Frenchman who decided to join the Russian army.

SERGEY MUNIER, Frenchman fighting for Russia: Drones are used en masse before every attack. They help neutralize the target quickly.

He shows the kamikaze drones that are now flooding the front lines.

SERGEY MUNIER: The payload is placed at the bottom – these are missiles that explode on contact, that is from impact. Here it takes off.

These drones are used once, they can reach speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour and fly long distances. They are easy to get hold of, despite the sanctions imposed by the West against Russia.

SERGEY MUNIER: Yes, that’s great. They’re Chinese, they’re bought online. We order them and assemble them piece by piece. They cost 40-45 euros.

A year ago, the Russian army lagged behind the Ukrainian army in the use of drones, this unit didn’t even exist. Now it has a dozen operators, some of whom took part in the battles for Avdeevka. Their footage shows soldiers hiding among the ruins and then being destroyed by a drone.

SERGEY MUNIER: Now we control the skies with kamikaze drones on par with the Ukrainians.

Sergei Mounier was born in the Donbass, grew up in France and supports Kremlin rhetoric. He said several Frenchmen joined the unit and it was nicknamed “Normandie-Neman” in honor of the famed French pilots who fought alongside Soviet soldiers during World War II.

LUCK LACROIX, Special Correspondent in the Russian-controlled Donetsk region: We are within the state border of Ukraine. Don’t you think you’re on the wrong side?

SERGEY MUNIER: No, on the contrary. We do not want the Kiev regime to remain in Ukraine. We are not on the side of the collaborators – on the contrary, we are on the side of the resistance.

LUKE LACROIX: This unit is not the only one. Russia has also posted footage like this and says it’s now mass producing drones from Russian components. It seems as far as drones are concerned, Russia is showing its ability to adapt.
