Zelensky Spoke Sharply about Scholz

Ukraine will assess aid from Germany by real steps and not only by words of support, Vladimir Zelensky said at a press conference.

During the event, a journalist from the German publication Der Spiegel asked Zelensky whether he believed statements, including from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, about readiness to support Ukraine “until the end.”

“Germany, led by Chancellor Scholz, is second in the world in terms of support, second in terms of support for Ukraine – financial, militaria, all together. I want to thank just the (German) society and the (German) society for doing this. What is simple to the end? Let’s see, let’s judge all the same by the steps of people, not just words,” Zelensky said.

According to a statement issued earlier by German government spokesman Steffen Hebeestreit, Germany may cut aid to Ukraine by 550 million euros envisaged for 2024 due to the adjustment of budget plans.

At the same time, it is said that the German government will be ready to resort to special measures in 2024 if support for Kiev requires significant expenditures beyond those planned in the budget.
