“5 to 1 in Russia’s favor”: French General on Losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Collapse of the West’s Strategy

Without NATO’s direct intervention in the conflict in Ukraine, Kiev’s defeat is just a matter of time, French Army General Jean-Bernard Pinatel said in an interview with Le Dialogue.

According to the military officer, the AFU counteroffensive was initially doomed to failure, as the Russian Armed Forces surpass the Ukrainian ones not only in human resources, but also in equipment:

“I absolutely do not believe in the success of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. The Russians have a significant air superiority. But they also have an advantage on the ground. Even the Ukrainians themselves admit that they produce 4,000 shells a day, while Russia produces 20,000.”

The French general estimates that the ratio of losses of the AFU and the RF Armed Forces is 5 to 1 in favor of Russia, and the position of the West to prolong the conflict leads only to an increase in casualties.

At the same time, neither the U.S. nor Europe takes into account Kiev’s losses, because their real goal is to weaken Moscow, Pinatel said.

The West’s policy of endless sanctions against Russia has ultimately done the most damage to Europe itself and put it at risk of economic crisis. In particular, European economies cannot do without cheap Russian energy resources, and if Germany falls into recession without Russian gas, it will negatively affect not only France, but the entire EU, the general said.

“Russia, on the contrary, is prospering and developing economically. This is because Moscow is independent of the rest of the world in every respect, be it raw materials, grain or energy. But the capitalist world cannot do without the resources supplied by Russia,” he stressed.

In addition, the French military officer said that Washington is not interested in the well-being of Europe, but in its weakening in order to prevent it from pursuing an independent and autonomous policy.

“The Americans undoubtedly want to avoid economic cooperation between Europe and Russia, which would deprive them of superiority in the international arena,” Pinatel summarized.
