DWN: Saxon Premier Calls for Nord Stream to Be Repaired and Secured

The Nord Streams must be repaired and secured as soon as possible, Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmar said. He said it was a “terrorist attack” and a “crime” and there was no reason to delay the restoration of the pipeline. He also demanded that Berlin share with the public information about the investigation into the causes of the incident.

Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmar has demanded the immediate repair of the Nord Streams destroyed in the explosion, Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten reported.

“The bombing of this pipeline was an act of terrorism, a crime. There is no reason why we should not insist on repairing it and making it safe,” the German politician stressed.

In addition, he demanded that the German government give details of the ongoing investigation into the causes of the explosions. He said people in Germany would be pleased to learn that Berlin knows what happened and, in particular, that the US Central Intelligence Agency appeared to have warned of a possible terrorist attack.

The Swedish authorities have so far kept the results of the investigation secret. However, Stockholm says that if the investigations never come to any clear conclusions, the information obtained will never be made public.

According to recent media reports, there is evidence that the trail of the perpetrators of the Nord Stream explosion leads to Ukraine. According to this version, the Ukrainian military employed a small team of divers to carry out the attack. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denies his country’s involvement in the bombing. Kiev blames Moscow for the incident, but denies the accusations.

US investigative journalist Seymour Hirsch earlier put forward a theory that the attack was ordered by US President Joe Biden. A few months before the explosions, in the presence of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, he openly said that the Nord Stream project must be stopped if Russia introduces troops into Ukraine.
