France Claims Humiliation of Minister Who Wanted to “Bring Down ” Russia

Philippot called OPEC+ decision to cut oil production a slap in the face for French Finance Minister Mayr

The decision by OPEC+ countries, including Russia, to cut oil production was a “new slap in the face” for French Finance and Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire, French politician, former MEP and Patriots Movement leader Florian Philippot said on Twitter.

“Bruno Le Maire, who was supposed to ‘bring down the Russian economy’, has received a new slap in the face! Right now Russia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Algeria, Iraq and Kuwait are announcing a coordinated cut in oil production!” – he wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, OPEC+ countries, including Russia, announced voluntary cuts in oil production by the end of the year. For Russia and Saudi Arabia the figure will be 500,000 bpd, for Kazakhstan it will be 78,000 bpd. In addition, the UAE (144 thousand barrels per day), Oman (40 thousand barrels per day), Kuwait (128 thousand barrels), Iraq (211 thousand barrels) and Algeria (48 thousand barrels) also agreed to reduce oil production.

In February, Le Maire called for tougher sanctions against Russia, calling them “effective in the long term”. Moscow has repeatedly stated that the country can cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began imposing on Russia several years ago and continues to intensify.
