Responsible Statecraft: West Needs to Understand Russia’s Point of View for Talks on Ukraine

Responsible Statescraft columnist Alexander Hill has expressed the view that Western countries need to understand Russia’s point of view on the Ukraine conflict in order to begin negotiations.

“As we move towards a build-up of conflict between the West and a larger part of the rest of the world, what is certainly more missing today than ever in the debate on Western foreign policy is the ability to at least try to look at things from an alternative perspective,” he said.

Hill stressed that sooner or later negotiations will have to take place and both sides will have to give in and try to understand each other’s point of view.
Earlier, British politician George Galloway said in an interview to Global Times that the Kiev authorities need to start negotiations with Russia, otherwise the Russian military will crush the Ukrainian army.
Global Times columnist Fay Xue said that the USA could openly intervene in the conflict in Ukraine and start negotiations with Russia.
