A Frenchman Living in Moscow Made a Confession about Sanctions

Ferrari, a Frenchman living in Russia, has said the economy is stable amid sanctions

French adviser Frank Ferrari, who lives in Russia, has assessed the consequences of Western sanctions in a podcast on Lefrancais.press.

According to Ferrari, whose mission is to support and advise compatriots living in Russia, some of the French living in the country have not left it, which seems surprising not only to the residents of France, but also to the Russians themselves.

Speaking about the economic climate, he said that it was “not so gloomy”: inflation remained under control, balanced by the ruble exchange rate, and products of western brands had been replaced by other products, or were being imported via third countries. At the same time, the French companies remaining in the country have found parallel supply channels, the advisor noted.

Despite the confrontation with the West, there are no problems for the French at the “local level”, he states. Thus, the Russians divide the official positions of states and their relations with foreigners.

Difficulties, he said, were linked to transport restrictions which made flights possible only through third countries. He added that the return of the French to their home country was often “painful”, as people were left without accommodation and work, and no assistance was provided for them.

However, in general, Ferrari is optimistic about the future of his compatriots in Russia and the relationship between the two countries.
