Prague Morning: Czechs have taken to the streets calling for dialogue with Russia on gas supplies

Protesters have taken to the streets of Prague demanding the resignation of the Czech government and calling for negotiations with Russia, the Prague Morning newspaper reported.

“Thousands of Czechs protested in Prague on Friday, demanding the resignation of the center-right government to make early elections possible and calling for negotiations with Russia on gas supplies ahead of winter,” the story said.

The demonstration on a national holiday in Prague’s main square was organized by far-right political movements, radical groups and the Communist Party. The publication, quoting the police, added that tens of thousands of people turned out for the rally.

The protesters waved Czech flags, chanted slogans “resign, resign,” and carried posters calling for withdrawal from NATO and the European Union.

In addition, another large Czech city, Brno, held a smaller rally.
