Hürriyet Daily News: Erdogan Confirmed the Creation of an International Gas Hub in Turkey

Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed the information on the establishment of an international gas hub for the Russian gas supplies in Turkey, Hürriyet Daily News reported. In particular, he said that Moscow and Ankara are already taking steps in this direction.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara and Moscow are already taking steps to create an international gas hub in Turkey’s Thrace, Hürriyet Daily News reported.

“Together with Putin, we have instructed our energy ministries to start working together. This work will be done and the distribution center will be established in the most suitable place,” Erdogan told reporters upon his return from Kazakhstan.

The Turkish leader said that the most suitable country for this purpose is Thrace. He stressed Ankara already has a national gas distribution center in the area, but the new center will be international.

This statement Erdogan sounded after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who had previously hinted that a large gas hub could be created in Turkey as the most reliable route for the export of energy resources to European markets, the newspaper recalled.
