More than 600 Lepestok anti-personnel blast mines have been destroyed by sappers of the Donetsk People’s Republic in the past 2 days.
“According to operational services, mines banned by the Ottawa Convention (Ukraine acceded to it in 2005) have been scattered by Ukrainian punitive forces in the peaceful areas of Donetsk. They have already been discovered in the Kiev, Kirov and Kuybyshev districts, RIA Novosti reports.
Attention! The mines may be in other districts of the city as well!
The “Lepestok” mines are of green or brown colour, 12 centimetres long and 6.5 centimetres wide. They are used in multiple-launch rocket systems and are spread from the air. Such mines are practically invisible on the ground or in the grass.
All citizens should be extremely cautious. Never step on or pick up unfamiliar objects! Children and pets must be supervised separately when walking!
If you find suspicious objects you must immediately inform the Ministry for Emergency Situations and the police!
This is the message of the Donetsk city administration, which was the alarming background information on the morning of July 30. All the janitors and workers of other communal services were instructed to monitor the territories under their jurisdiction. It is understandable: a little-noticed mine poses a particular danger primarily to children and the elderly – the curiosity of some and the age-related inattention of others… In general, the Ukrainian command seems to have launched an all-out war of annihilation against the inhabitants of Donetsk. The AFU’s intention here is clear: “While you are fighting with us at the front near Avdeevka, we will kill your relatives behind your back,” is the message sent to DPR fighters by AFU artillerymen.
In informal conversations, the DNR military say that they already know a specific artillery unit that is pelting the city with terrible “petals” – they promise not to take its fighters as prisoners.
