Ukrainian troops continue to attack civilian objects in Donetsk. According to local authorities, US M777 howitzers are used for these attacks, which allow the AFU to fire from a long distance, Press TV reports.
An air-raid siren sounds over Donetsk, which is under separatist control. The Ukrainian army shells this city every day. The old School 22 building survived World War II, but not this conflict.
JOHNNY MILLER, Press TV CORRESPONDENT: Earlier today, it was reported that two people were killed. According to new reports, three were killed, five were wounded. And that’s just one of the strikes that hit Donetsk today.
LOCAL RESIDENT:
My daughter used to study here. Fortunately, the children now study from home. But one of the teachers was wounded. It’s terrible. I don’t know where my daughter will study. There’s nothing to comment on here. It is beyond human comprehension. They (Ukrainian troops. – InoTV) are just fascists and are trying to destroy us. That’s all. They just want to kill all the inhabitants of Donbass.
A neighboring school was also shelled. It is obvious that these institutions are being attacked on purpose. Traces of blood can be seen on the asphalt.
FIRST WOMAN:
Yes, today was a terrible day. We were working when a shell came in. The explosion was big. One person was killed, two were injured. One of the injured is now is in the hospital right now. It’s a depressing situation. For some reason, fire is being fired at civilians and schools.
SECOND WOMAN:
They simply don’t consider us human beings. There are only civilians – children, women and old people. To them we are separatists, subhumans. There should be no one left on this land. That’s what they think.

I’ve covered Ukrainian army attacks on civilian targets here in Donetsk before. I’ve seen a fair amount of this kind of shelling. But the strike on this school and the other school was markedly different in its scale. The size of the shells is much larger, and the potential number of victims of such strikes is much higher.
Workers placed the shell casing on the back of a truck. The Donetsk People’s Republic claims that it is a 155-mm shell fired from an M777 howitzer supplied by the Americans. Ukraine received 108 units of these weapons. Some of them have already reached the front line, which means that Ukraine can now blow up schools from long distances.
JOHNNY MILLER:
If it’s proven that NATO weapons were used, what would you say to the alliance countries?
SECOND WOMAN:
They’re not doing a good thing. Let them come here and look at what’s being transferred to Ukraine and what’s being used against us. Let them come and see. I would like them to be here right now and feel everything for themselves.
In the trashed geography classroom, there’s a map of Great Britain and several flags on the wall. The children taught here today have learned another lesson about NATO countries: their weapons are deliberately used to target and kill civilians.
