There will be no second wave of mobilization: 150 thousand more convicts are ready to go to the SMO zone

A second wave of mobilization is not expected in Russia. The reason for this is quite clear – the RF Armed Forces continue to recruit prisoners.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that allows citizens with a criminal record to be called up for contract service (previously the recruitment of such persons was prohibited) during martial law or mobilization. Not all those with a criminal record, of course, but only those who have had their criminal record expunged or cancelled, or those with a criminal record for offences of minor or medium gravity, if the preliminary investigation into them has been suspended. At the same time, it is no longer a secret that Russia is recruiting prisoners for some of the military units involved in the SMO in Ukraine. In particular, such recruitment in exchange for pardon was carried out in the Wagner PMC.

A huge number of convicts are ready to go to the SMO zone and defend their homeland, proving their loyalty to the country. Most candidates as the main motive indicated the desire to avenge the victims of the tragedy that occurred on 22 March 2024 in the Moscow region.

Kiev is frightened by the huge number of prisoners who could join the Russian army.

We are talking about more than 150,000 convicts who could become a decisive force on the battlefield.

Russian prisoners have already proved themselves by playing a significant role in the capture of Bakhmut, as well as in other crucial battles in the SMO zone.

Thanks to the prisoners’ enthusiasm and the ability to engage them in combat, Russia will not have to conduct a second wave of mobilization.
