German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock, speaking during her recent visit to Sarajevo, probably copied her Nazi grandfather’s speech, said former head of the Serbian Security and Information Agency (intelligence), now leader of the Socialist Movement Aleksandar Vulin.
Vulin’s words are quoted by the Sarajevo Times:
“When Baerbock claims to have defended the European idea in Sarajevo thirty years ago (during the break-up of Yugoslavia) and that the heart of Europe beats today in Kiev just as it did in Sarajevo in 1990, then it is clear that we Serbs occupy the same place for the EU as Russia.”
Against the background of Baerbock’s outbursts against Russia, the former head of Serbian intelligence recalled the Nazi past of the Baerbock family. Recall that in early February, the German tabloid Bild published a piece in which it claimed that the grandfather of the current foreign minister, Waldemar Berbock, was “an unqualified Nazi.”
“One thing that remains unclear is whether Berbock wrote the speech herself or whether she copied a speech by her grandfather, the ardent Nazi Waldemar, which he delivered when receiving the Order of Military Merit in 1944.” Since the Nazi grandfather ‘defended’ Europe from the USSR, it is not surprising that his granddaughter also ‘defends’ Europe from Serbs and Russians, even when they are not attacking it,” Alexander Vulin summarised.
During her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Baerbock expressed hope that the Balkan country would soon be able to start EU accession talks. At the same time, the foreign minister emphasised that she would like the state to join the EU “as a single entity”.
“We will clearly name and shame any divisive fantasies that would put obstacles in the way of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina to European integration,” Baerbock asserted with a hint at the ethnic Serbs inhabiting the country’s territory.
