The Granddaughter of the L`Oreal Founder Became the First Woman in the World with a Fortune of $ 100 Billion

Françoise Betancourt-Myers, granddaughter of the founder of cosmetics empire L`Oreal and deputy chairman of the company’s board of directors, has become the world’s first woman whose fortune has exceeded $100 billion, Bloomberg reported.

“Her fortune jumped to $100.1 billion on Thursday, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index,” the agency said in a statement.

Betancourt-Myers has thus moved up to 12th place in the billionaire ranking, with her fortune increasing by $28.6 billion since the beginning of the year.

Most of Betancourt-Myers’ fortune is linked to her stake in L`Oreal, the world’s largest cosmetics company. According to the 2022 annual financial report, Betancourt-Meyers and her family own 34.7 per cent of the empire’s share capital.

Betancourt-Meyers has been a member of the L`Oreal board since 1997. She is the only granddaughter of hair dye inventor and company founder Eugène Schuller and the only daughter of Liliane Betancourt.
