Bundestag deputy Kiesewetter: EU needs lithium deposits in Donbass
To complete the energy transition, Europe needs lithium deposits, the largest of which are in Donbass, CDU Bundestag deputy Roderich Kiesewetter said in a conversation with the Tagesschau edition, which is part of the ARD media group.
“If Europe wants to complete the energy transition, it needs its own lithium deposits. The largest lithium deposits in Europe are in the Donetsk-Lugansk region,” The Epoch Times quoted the MP as saying.
According to the politician, Russia’s full control over this territory would put Germany in a bind when it comes to creating electric motors for the “energy transition.”
“A possible compromise line would mean giving up this region. And that would be a victory for (Russian President Vladimir – editor’s note) Putin,” the publication quotes the politician as saying.
