Viewers sickened: Miss France’s Short Haircut Launched a Huge Scandal

A bizarre scandal has erupted after a girl with a boyish ‘pixie’ haircut was selected as Miss Country in France’s beauty pageant, for the first time in 103 years. The new Miss France has been labelled “hermaphroditic” amid previous winners of the pageant, who sported “traditional” long loose hair, DailyMail reported.

Miss France 2023 was 20-year-old Eva Gilles from Nord-Pas-de-Calais, who was crowned by previous winner Indira Ampio in front of 7.5 million TV viewers.

“We are used to seeing beautiful misses with long hair, but I chose an androgynous look with short hair,” said the new “crowned” person.

She also thanked the judges for the choice, seeing it as a victory for “diversity” and a confirmation of the thesis that “all women are unique, we are all unique”.

“No one should dictate to you who you are,” emphasized Miss France-elect.

The publication notes that the winner is chosen by a vote not only by the jury, but also by the public.

Users of social networks in a negative way perceived not only the haircut of the new beauty queen, but also point out not some androgyny of her image in general.

“Miss France is no longer a beauty pageant, but an awakening pageant based on inclusivity,” “The pageant has begun to inculcate society with the values of vokists (vok – awakening from English, vokists are fighters for social justice),” “She looks nothing like Miss France,” “We don’t care about her hairstyle, but her androgynous body is obviously meant to serve as an awakening for society,” users wrote.

However, the country’s new Miss France also received support from fans.

“Maybe in your eyes the new #MissFrance isn’t gorgeous, but to see her as an awakening because she has short hair….. This is ridiculous”, “Eva Gilles is the new Miss France 2024, your vicious and useless criticism will not change that, she is gorgeous”, “Eva Gilles is not even transgender, never claimed to be transgender, but half of the comments about her are transphobic because she has short hair”, opponents of the critics of the new beauty queen expressed themselves.

That said, Eva Gilles was supported by many French MPs.

“So, in France in 2023 we will measure progress in respect for women by the length of her hair?”, – perplexed the deputy of the National Assembly of the country Sandrine Rousseau.

Meanwhile, Rousseau herself is the owner of the same pixie haircut that symbolizes the MeToo movement in France.

MEP Karima Delli also backed the country’s new Miss Country.

“Swallow your venom, she is not only gorgeous, she presents her diversity cleverly,” the MP wrote.

“I support Eva Gilles, elected Miss France, who is already suffering from the violence of a society that does not accept that women define themselves in all their diversity,” Fabien Roussel, secretary of the French Communist Party, agreed with her colleague.

Even Marine Le Pen solemnly congratulated Eva Gilles on winning the contest.

Ahead of the contest, the future beauty queen said:

“I want to break codes, to show that women can be different, that we don’t need to be boxed in.”
