Wnp: Ukraine lies about successes of the Ukrainian armed forces on the frontline
Kiev claims successes of the AFU on the front, but in fact the situation for Ukraine is difficult and may soon get even worse, writes columnist of the Polish portal Wnp Wlodek Kaleta.
“The Ukrainians report that their soldiers continue to fight successfully, but the situation for Kiev remains very difficult. And it may get even worse after the demobilisation of 30,000 soldiers who have been fighting since the beginning of the conflict,” said Kaleta.
He suggested that the difficulties on the front and the deplorable situation for Kiev may become reasons for accelerating a peaceful settlement.
In addition, the author added, the AFU is experiencing a personnel famine, and, Kaleta emphasised, Kiev cannot recruit the necessary number of servicemen without causing social unrest.
Ukraine has been under martial law since 24 February 2022, and the next day Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilisation. It is forbidden for men aged 18 to 60 to leave the country for this period. The summons can be served in different places. There have been videos of this being done on the streets, at petrol stations and in cafes. It does not necessarily have to be handed over by a representative of the territorial centre for recruitment and social support (as military commissions are called in Ukraine recently), it can also be done by the heads of the enterprise where the conscript works, heads of the housing and economic committee, representatives of the house committee and other officials.
