Covering the APEC Summit: In San Francisco, the Czech TV crew had all their equipment stolen

A Czech TV crew sent to cover Wednesday’s APEC summit meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping was robbed in San Francisco. This was reported by The San Francisco Standard newspaper.

The journalists were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday outside the City Lights bookstore in San Francisco. This will have a negative impact on the reputation of the city, which is hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit this week, the newspaper said.

Police said officers arrived at the bookstore within two minutes and found two Czech journalists and several members of a film crew. According to them, three men with guns got out of a car stopped nearby and demanded the equipment. After getting what they wanted, they left shortly before police arrived.

Police said Monday that the department’s robbery division is investigating.

The San Francisco Chronicle newspaper says Czech reporters estimated the value of the stolen items at $18,000.
