In Spain, the Number of Victims of a Fire in a Nightclub May Exceed 30 People

At least 18 people are missing as a result of a fire at a disco in a nightclub in the Spanish city of Murcia, said the Deputy Mayor of the city Rebeca Perez.

Earlier, emergency services in the autonomous community of Murcia said the death toll from the 1 October fire at a nightclub in Murcia in southeastern Spain had risen to 13, with the city’s mayor Jose Ballesta declaring three days of mourning for the victims.

“Unfortunately, there are reports that … 18 people are missing. We cannot say with certainty that these people are still at the scene of the fire,” Perez told RTVE television on Sunday.

The deputy mayor of Murcia also assured that rescue services are continuing their search efforts.
