“No reciprocity”: Polish Justice Minister Complains about Kiev’s Refusal to Investigate Its Own Missile Explosion

The Ukrainians do not want to follow the principles of reciprocity and absolutely refuse to cooperate with Polish investigators in the case of the Ukrainian missile that fell in November last year, as it became known recently, Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro has complained. He believes that this decision was taken not at the level of prosecutors, but at the high political level of the Ukrainian state, Forsal reported.

“The investigation conducted by Polish prosecutors has led to a conclusion that categorically states that this missile was a Ukrainian missile – still Soviet or already Russian-made. As for the place of launch and belonging to a specific military group, it was a Ukrainian missile,” Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro said in Lublin on Thursday.

This is how he commented on the final investigation into the rocket’s crash in the border area of Przewodów on 15 November last year. This tragedy claimed the lives of two Polish citizens, recalls Forsal.

The head of the Ministry also commented on the cooperation with the Ukrainian side on the investigation of the tragedy.

“I regret it very much, but there has not been such co-operation in this matter for many months,” he stressed.

At the same time, he explained that in other cases, the Polish prosecutor’s office co-operates with Ukraine in a regular mode. He recalled that Polish prosecutors travelled to Ukraine and conducted investigations there, even at the risk of their health and lives, “to help the Ukrainian side document Russian crimes committed there. We always respected the norms of Ukrainian legislation and took into account all expectations on their part,” Ziobro complained.

The minister drew attention to the fact that in the investigation of the tragedy that happened in Przewodów, the Ukrainian side does not intend to follow the principles of reciprocity.

“This has been going on for months. I don’t think this is a decision at the level of prosecutors. I believe that this decision was taken at a high political level of the Ukrainian state,” he summarized.
