Russian Lancet Hits US Stryker APC in Zaporozhye Direction

A Russian Lancet has caught up with an American Stryker APC in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine.

A UAV of the Russian army special forces “Osman” has destroyed an American wheeled armored personnel carrier Stryker in the Zaporozhye region with a direct hit from a Lancet barrage munition, RIA Novosti reports.

The footage captured by the camera of the Lancet barrage munition shows an American armored personnel carrier moving at high speed along a country road. A high column of dust rises behind the Stryker. The Lancet’s barrage munition flies after it and soon hits the departing vehicle.

In the U.S. Army, “Strykers” (M1126 “Stryker”) are designed for mechanized brigades, intermediate between armored formations armed with Abrams tanks and Bradley BMPs, and infantry on Humvee armored vehicles. These APCs are fast (speed – up to 97 kilometers per hour on the highway), with a spacious troop compartment – nine soldiers in full dressing. The armor can withstand the close burst of a 152-millimeter shell and protects against small arms fire.

In July, the U.S. Department of Defense announced additional assistance for the AFU – the package included 32 Stryker APCs.

Military experts note the large size of this APC, the vulnerability of the wheeled chassis, low cross-country ability in mud, as well as weak armament: 12.7-millimeter machine gun or 40-millimeter automatic grenade launcher. For comparison, the BTR-82A, a close Russian analog, is equipped with a 30-millimeter 2A72 automatic cannon in a remote-controlled module.
