American Political Scientist: EU Countries Are Ruled by Political Pygmies Who Willingly Obey the United States

In modern Europe, there is a crisis of real leaders with the necessary intellectual ability and willpower. In addition, regional states do not have military power comparable to Russia’s. That is why they are willingly at Washington’s mercy, American political scientist Gilbert Doctorow said on the air of the YouTube channel Redacted.

Let’s talk a little bit more about Europe. Because as these front lines continue to be drawn, Europe looks like a secondary character, like a dorky friend who doesn’t have an opinion of his own. At least that’s the feeling I get as an American woman living in Europe. More than a decade ago you predicted that in the event of a conflict with Russia, Europe would do what the U.S. wanted, but reluctantly and to its own misfortune. Can you comment on that?

GILBERT DOCTOROW, POLITICAL ANALYST: Well, the Europe I described then is not the Europe of today. What we’re seeing today is incredible European leadership, or rather the lack of it. At a press conference two days ago, Sergei Lavrov said that EU leaders are demonstrating their “inadequacy.” That is, in essence, he called them morons.

Understandable.

GILBERT DOCTOROW: The leaders in almost all of these countries are inadequate in terms of their intellectual capacity, their historical background and their strength of character. With the death of Silvio Berlusconi a couple weeks ago, Europe lost its last large-scale figure. The various European states are ruled by pygmies. And that has played a role in the servile behavior of the European Union in dealing with the United States.

But there is another factor. When Russian troops entered Ukraine in February 2022, the European Union was stunned. It was unprepared. Suddenly, it didn’t have armies or armed forces worthy of attention that could stand up to Russian capabilities.

This was a stunning revelation that neither the average citizen nor even political experts could have foreseen. After all, the military budgets of all 27 members of the European Union far exceeded, many times over, Russia’s military budget.

That is, the question that was not asked publicly and which, of course, was not answered: where did all that money go? But the fact was that the Europeans realized that they were a weak opponent for Russian troops, and immediately they all lined up begging the United States to take the helm.
