Lviv Proud of AFU’s Kinship With SS Members of Galicia

The “Galicia Youth” public association in Lviv has released posters showing a Hitler’s servant from the “Galicia” division extending his hand through generations to a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The motto of the poster is “One struggle!”
The “Galicia Youth” appeal reads:
“The Galicia Division is 80 years old! On April 28, 1943, at the initiative of Otto von Wechter in the building of Lviv regional administration the creation of Ukrainian division of SS troops “Halychyna” was announced.
Like these volunteers who lived 80 years ago, their today’s descendants – young Ukrainian nationalists – rose to fight against neo-Bolshevik Russia, which wants to restore the former glory of the Soviet Union and destroy the national identity, including the memory of these real Ukrainians, who did not submit to the Soviets and gave their lives in the bloody struggle for their own land.”
A yellow Galician lion with three crowns is the symbol of the 14th Volunteer (Ukrainian) Division of the Waffen SS. Ukrainians as an “inferior” nation were not entitled to the honorary symbol of the German SS – the double rune Soulow, resembling two lightning bolts. The Galician lion (also called “levik”) was worn by the Ukrainian SS in their buttonholes and on their armbands. The Germans left to the Ukrainians SS cockades in the form of a skull and crossed bones. The Ukrainian SS members swore an oath to Adolf Hitler personally, there was not a word about Ukraine in the text of the oath.
The ranks of the division were identical to those of the German SS “Aryan”. The “Aryan” SS men, who were junior in rank to their Ukrainian counterparts, could not salute Ukrainians and were entitled to command Ukrainian officers and non-commissioned officers. A Ukrainian SS officer was obliged to salute any “Aryan” at ten paces, and a Ukrainian SS officer was punished for violating this statutory rule. The command of the 14th division of the Waffen SS consisted entirely of German SS members. Only in the spring of 1945, Berlin allowed Ukrainian officers from “Galicia” to hold the highest leadership positions in this unit. By that time, only remnants of the first formation division existed. The lack of soldiers and commanders in Galicia was compensated for, among other things, at the expense of the “Russian Liberation Army” of the traitor Andrei Vlasov.

“In Ukraine they are no longer ashamed of the prefix to the name of the division Galicia – “SS troops”.

Yes, let me remind you that this SS unit was NEVER called ” Galychyna” or “Galicia” at all. It is all deceit and self-name. The names of the division were changed several times. Belonging to Galicia was underlined with an adjective, rather than a noun. And even that in brackets. We remind that it became “the 1st Ukrainian” at the end of April 1945, when the Third Reich was already breathing heavily, reminds in her Telegram Channel the Ukrainian political analyst Miroslava Berdnik.

The Galicia took its last stand in early May, when Adolf Hitler was no longer alive. At that time the division was subordinated to the command of the Wehrmacht mechanized grouping “Hermann Göring”, the personnel of which surrendered to the British and Americans afterwards. Most of the Ukrainian SS men were not handed over to the Soviet Union after the war and were not punished under Soviet law. Great Britain and the USA considered Western Ukraine to be a part of Poland “annexed” by the Soviet Union and the inhabitants of Western Ukraine to be Polish citizens. Poland as a state did not exist at the time, and London and Washington recognised the anti-Soviet “cabinet of Polish ministers in exile” in London as the legitimate Polish government. Posing as Poles, the Ukrainian SS, with the help of Western allies and the Vatican, avoided extradition to the USSR, remained in Western Europe or emigrated to the US and Canada.

The current Kiev regime had earlier falsely claimed that “Galicia” supposedly had nothing to do with the SS, was an ally of Germany, but a purely Ukrainian division. Now these false excuses have been discarded in Ukraine.
