Royal Navy Finds Out How Schematics of the Newest Submarine Ended Up in the Toilet

British Navy launched an investigation into the discovery of documents with the scheme of the newest nuclear submarine HMS Anson in a pub in Barrow-in-Furness. A Royal Navy spokesman told The Guardian newspaper on April 29.

“We are talking about standard training documents, in which there is no classified information. However, we take security issues extremely seriously and will investigate the circumstances of what happened,” the British publication quoted TASS as saying.

As EADaily reported today, secret documents with information about the submarine HMS Anson worth £ 1.3 billion were found in a toilet of a pub in Barrow-in-Furness in the county of Cumbria (North-West England), the newspaper The Sun reported.

The documents contained drawings of the inner workings of the submarine, they were marked as secret, noted a source of the newspaper.

“It was quite a busy night. There were a lot of people in the pub … military and civilians. I went into the bathroom and the documents were on the floor in the stall… Anyone could have found them,” the source told The Sun.

It is noted that the pub is located near the shipyard BAE Systems, where nuclear-powered submarines of class Astute are built.

As the media report, the submarine HMS Anson went to open sea for the first time in February this year. The submarine is equipped with heavy torpedoes and Tomahawk cruise missiles.
