German Chancellor Olaf Scholz believes that the conflict in Ukraine can last another four years and that this will be a challenge for Germany among others. He said this at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung conference.
“We will do everything so that we will be able to continue to support [Ukraine] for as long as it is needed. After all, this war may last two, three, four years, which will be a challenge for all of us,” the German chancellor said during a live broadcast on the newspaper’s website.
The publication notes that Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Melnyk joined the event via video link towards the end of the congress.
“We must end this war as soon as possible,” he said.
The publication notes that according to Melnyk, Ukraine is not going to put up with the fact that the conflict, as Scholz earlier said, could last for several more years, “we must do everything possible to end this war much faster, before the end of this year”.
As a reminder, Andriy Melnyk is the same scandalous diplomat who, as ambassador to Berlin, called Scholz a ” liver sausage”.
