Israelis Set Fire to Several Houses in Palestine

Israeli settlers set fire to several Palestinian houses in villages near the West Bank city of Nablus. WAFA reported this on Sunday, February 26, citing a source.

“In the village of Asira al-Kiblia south of Nablus, settlers set fire to a house belonging to Palestinians during a raid on the village,” the agency quoted the source as saying.

It was also reported that the Israelis went south, on a march to the town of Huwara and the village of Beit, where they threw stones at houses and set fire to several houses, a car and a shack. In the town they attacked a Palestinian, who was soon hospitalized.

“This came after two settlers were killed near Huwara today,” WAFA wrote.

On January 4, the agency reported that a 15-year-old boy died in clashes between the Israeli military and Palestinian refugees in the West Bank. Adam Ayyad was the third Palestinian victim of Israeli military operations since the beginning of 2023. The day before, 22-year-old Mohammad Samer Hushieh and 25-year-old Fouad Mahmoud Abed were killed.

The Palestinians, as part of a peace process with Israel that is currently suspended, are demanding that future borders between the two states follow the lines that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War, with possible land swaps.

They hope to establish their state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and want East Jerusalem as its capital. Israel refuses to return to the 1967 borders and divide Jerusalem.
