Some Ukrainian POWs held in the Luhansk people’s republic (LNR) have refused to be put on the exchange list. The republic’s human rights ombudsman Victoria Serdyukova said on Wednesday, 22 February

“Some of the Ukrainian servicemen have applied to us claiming refusal to be included in the list for an exchange with the Ukrainian state,” she wrote in her Telegram channel.

The ombudsman pointed out that there are currently around 1,400 Ukrainian prisoners on the territory of the republic, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier, on 17 January, the commander of a tank company of the Russian Armed Forces said that cases of voluntary surrender among Ukrainian fighters in the Zaporizhzhya direction had increased. He added that the mood in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was “generally very deplorable”.
