Ukrainian Shell Hits Dome of Preobrazhenskyi Cathedral in Donetsk

Ukrainian Armed Forces fire 40 Grad rockets into Voroshilov and Kiev districts of Donetsk

Ukrainian forces fired 40 rockets from Grad MLRSs into the Voroshilovsky and Kievsky districts of Donetsk, the DNR representation at the Joint Centre for the Control and Coordination of Ukrainian War Crimes (JCCC) said.

“Shelling from the AFU (Ukrainian armed formations – ed.) in the direction: 07.00 (coincides with Moscow – ed.) – Tonenkoe settlement – Donetsk city (Voroshilovsky, Kievsky district) was recorded: 40 missiles from BM-21 “Grad” were fired,” the office said in a statement in its telegram channel.

Ukrainian shells hit the dome of the Preobrazhensky Cathedral as well as the buildings of the Donetsk National Technical University (DonNTU) after this morning’s massive shelling of Donetsk, said city mayor Oleksiy Kulemzin.

“Eyewitnesses report a broken gas pipe in an apartment building on Mira Avenue, a shell hitting the dome of the Preobrazhensky Cathedral, a fire in the canteen and several buildings of the Donetsk National Technical University. Cars burned in the car park near the Stolichnyy business centre. Information is being clarified,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian forces on Thursday morning fired 40 rockets from Grad MLRS at two central districts of Donetsk. Kulemzin said the city centre was subjected to the most massive shelling since 2014.
