UN Urged to Investigate Allegations of Killing of Russian POWs of War

The UN has called for all reports of human rights violations to be investigated and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice, the UN deputy spokesman for the UN secretary-general, Farhan Haq, told the media, commenting on the appeal of DPR ombudsman Darya Morozova over the publication of the video of the murdered Russian POWs.

“We called on all parties to the conflict to thoroughly investigate all reports of human rights violations and to bring those responsible to justice,” he said.

The Russian Defence Ministry said that the Ukrainian military deliberately killed 10 captured Russian servicemen.

Earlier, a video showing Ukrainian servicemen shooting Russian soldiers who surrendered and lying on the ground appeared on the Internet. According to the chairman of the presidential council for civil society and human rights, Valeriy Fadeyev, this happened in Makeyevka in the LNR. The head of the HRC called the incident a demonstrative defiant crime and said he would demand an international investigation. The HRC will send the video to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, Amnesty International, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other organizations.
