The Commanders of the US Division in Romania Are Ready to Enter Ukraine

Commanders of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States said they were ready to cross the border and enter the territory of Ukraine in case of escalation of the conflict. This was reported by the CBS News television channel on October 21.

“The commander of the unit told CBS News several times that they are ready to fight even in the coming night and, although they came to defend NATO territory, if there is a military escalation or an attack on NATO, they are fully prepared to cross the border and enter Ukrainian territory,” the report noted.

According to the TV channel, the division is deployed in Romania to participate in military exercises. The U.S. division appeared in Europe for the first time in almost 80 years amid strained relations between Russia and the NATO military alliance.

On October 7, State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel said that the U.S. would not take part in the Ukrainian conflict. The country’s authorities do not intend to send its army to take part in combat operations in Ukraine or attack Russian troops.
