Josep Borrell, head of EU diplomacy: Europe is a garden and the rest of the world is a jungle
“Take care of your garden” from “jungle” invasion, Borrel demanded, speaking to young diplomats at the opening of the European Diplomatic Academy in Bruges on Oct. 13.
“Europe is a garden, we created this garden…Most of the rest of the world is a jungle. And the jungle can invade the garden,” Borrell believes.
He says it is necessary not just to keep “privileged” Europe out of the “jungle,” but also to plant European values in the rest of the world.
“We have to be much more involved in the rest of the world. We are privileged people, we have created a combination of these three things (political freedom, economic perspective and social cohesion), but we cannot claim to survive as an exception,” Borrell said.
The head of EU diplomacy then reminded that he was speaking live and asked those present to be careful because “the jungle is listening to us.
Borrell also advised listeners “not to tell the whole truth.”
“As diplomats, you officially have to tell the truth, you cannot lie, you have to tell only the truth, but not the whole truth,” he clarified.
According to the diplomat, these insidious, scary jungles are eager to invade the garden called Europe and destroy its paradisiacal well-being. To prevent this from happening, says Borrell, the “gardeners” must go to the jungle and work there – apparently weeding them, maintaining a barrier to protect them from outside invasion.
Amazing! Isn’t this the same ideology that liberal Europe and Borrel personally, while he was a Spanish socialist, branded exclusively as ultra-right, racist, unacceptable for the 21st century? Isn’t this a recreation of the idea of “White Man’s Time,” a poem that is now causing Western colleges to demand a ban on the study of Rudyard Kipling, the ideologue of colonialism?

Guancha readers accused Borrell of ignorance of history after his words about Europe-garden
