Ukrainian Children Believed to Have Been Smuggled to Russia Found in Germany

Kiev has said that more than 160 children who were thought to have been taken to Russia have been found in Germany, the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vygovsky, has said

More than 160 children whom Kiev claimed were taken to Russia have been found in Germany, the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vygovsky, has said.

“Thanks to our co-operation with law enforcement agencies of the Federal Republic of Germany, <…> 161 Ukrainian children (about whom Kiev claimed that they were taken to Russia. – Editor’s note) have been found in Germany”, – his words are quoted on the website of the department.

In her turn, the Russian presidential commissioner for children’s rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, commenting on this statement, suggested that Ukrainian children who were believed to have been taken to Russia should be searched for in other countries. She said Moscow has long drawn the world community’s attention to the fact that Kiev has created a “mythological system” regarding minors allegedly “deported” to Russia, “naming numbers in the tens of thousands and reporting non-existent circumstances.”

“Checking the lists of minors received through various channels, we see that some of the children have long been at home with their parents or in other states and have never even been separated from their closest relatives,” Lvova-Belova stressed.
