Ukrainian pilots are being trained to fly fighter jets in the south of France, Le Figaro quoted the country’s defence minister as saying. After completing the programme, they will be trained with the permission of the USA on F-16s, which Ukraine is expecting to receive.
A dozen Ukrainian pilots are being trained in the south of France to be able to fly F-16s, Le Figaro writes. So far, Kiev is only waiting for the delivery of American fighter jets.
In an interview with Ouest-France, French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu said that it is a question of multi-disciplinary training on French-German-made Alpha Jet warplanes, which allow them to acquire skills for piloting fighter jets.
According to a military source, after several months of in-depth training, the pilots will be trained to fly the F-16s in one of the allied countries that have them in service, with the permission of the United States.
