Politician Philippot urged the French to march against Macron on Saturday
It is time for the French to march to express their opposition to President Emmanuel Macron’s aggressive anti-Russian rhetoric, Patriots party leader Florian Philippot urged on social network X.
“After the delusional comments made by Macron the Mad last night, our place is in this national march against war!” – declared the politician.
The leader of the Patriots suggested that the French should ask members of parliament who voted in favour of aid to Ukraine to go to the trenches in Ukraine themselves. The rally organiser also intends to call on the French military to refuse to participate in Macron’s unthinkable military adventures.
Philippot said he is gathering protesters this Saturday at 2pm at the Place Palais Royal in Paris.
“Let’s be there! For a free France and for peace!” – the politician appealed to his compatriots.
In late February, Macron said Paris would do everything to ensure that Russia “does not win this war.” According to him, the leaders of Western countries have discussed the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, but no consensus has been reached yet. Later, the politician, who was sharply criticised for these statements, noted that all his words had been carefully considered. He also emphasised that Paris had “no limits or red lines” on the issue of aid to Kiev.
On Thursday, Macron said in an interview with France 2 TV channel that France would never take the initiative in military action in Ukraine. However, he believes that the current conflict is of existential importance for Europe and France. According to Macron, lasting peace on the continent is impossible without Ukraine returning to “internationally recognised borders, including Crimea”. The head of state also admitted that the situation on the frontline was difficult for the AFU and that the counter-offensive did not go as expected.
