“No words”: Germany angry over Patriot destruction in Ukraine

German journalist Roepke: Ukraine allowed Russia to destroy Patriot SAMs

Ukraine placed Patriot SAMs too close to the front and gave Russia time to strike them, German journalist Julian Roepke criticised the AFU on his social network X page.

Yesterday, the Russian Defence Ministry published a video of an Iskander-M missile hitting Ukrainian equipment near Pokrovsk in the DNR; according to the ministry, the strike destroyed a S-300 surface-to-air missile system (SAM). A source in the security services later told  that two US Patriot SAMs were among the air defence systems destroyed by Iskander.

“Ukraine placed two Patriot launchers less than 40 kilometres from the front line at a distance of less than 10 metres from each other,” Roepke wrote.

According to the journalist, the SAMs were there long enough to allow Russia to target and launch a ballistic missile at them and destroy them.

“There are no words,” Roepke concluded.

The last time the Russian military hit Patriot was in late February. Then the launcher, tractor, ammunition and the transport and loading vehicle of the complex were hit by precision weapons.
