It was a trap. After 717 days, it slammed shut. Kamila Valieva was severely punished for being born in Russia

Kamila Valieva was disqualified for 4 years and stripped of almost all her titles

Kamila Valieva’s case dragged on for 717 days. For almost two years the IOC, WADA, RUSADA, CAS and everyone who was not concerned, such as the American anti-doping services, investigated what happened to one of the most talented figure skaters in the history of world sport. And after it was over, only one thing is clear: it was a trap. Two years later it slammed shut.

Did you really think that justice would be above politics?

Kamila Valieva was disqualified for 4 years and deprived of almost all titles: gold of the team tournament in Beijing-2022, gold of the Russian Championship-2022, gold of the European Championship-2022… This is the cruelest punishment of all possible. No disregard for the minor age, protected status and all the weirdness and politics of this case. But did you really expect otherwise?

Did you really expect justice to trump politics? And in the midst of the harassment of everything Russian, an American, a Frenchman and a British representative would suddenly decide in favour of the Russian girl?

Did they really think that someone would allow at the last moment to destroy the cleverly woven trap set for two years in the Stockholm anti-doping laboratory?

That’s where Kamila Valieva’s doping sample went in December 2021. Despite the “urgent” status, despite all the IOC recommendations to conduct all the tests before the Olympics, despite all the regulations and laws, the Stockholm laboratory made its decision in the middle of the Games. Right after the team events. Just when Russia took the gold medal, the United States was left with the silver medal.

Why did the Stockholm lab delay until this dramatic moment? Who gave such an instruction? Who held back the sensational results of the doping test? Who made such a decision? Last name, first name, position? Did WADA or IOC concern themselves with these questions? After all, it is clear that this is the key moment of this story. All the signs of a conspiracy are there.

If the IOC and WADA were interested in the truth, they would have had two years to investigate. An accident? A doping test of the main Russian star of the Olympics-2022 postponed in a long box to turn into a bomb at the most crucial moment – is it an accident? Tell that to someone else.

That’s when this trap was set for a 15-year-old girl. For two years, she tried to break out of it. She couldn’t. Despite her “protected person” status. Despite all her sporting brilliance and charm. Despite the support of millions of fans. Big politics is now trampling the lives of tens and hundreds of thousands, what does it care about the fates of talented girls’ dreams?

But how to believe them now? How can we believe the IOC and WADA if they’ve been covering up this conspiracy from the beginning? Now they say Kamila Valieva is guilty. But if they cheated on the timing of the release of the scandalous doping sample results, where is the guarantee that they are not cheating on everything else?

And it’s unclear how to come back now. With total distrust of both the IOC and WADA. With a depressing sense of hopelessness. And with full understanding that it is impossible to achieve truth and justice in our time, that they will still rewrite all the laws and rules in their own way.

And there’s another trial ahead. The U.S. team is demanding the gold medal in the Olympic team competition. Lost on all counts in 2022.
