The “Man of Europe – 2023” in Latvia is the chief medic of the national battalion “Carpathian Sich” Sergeant Sarmite Cirule, not the captain of the hockey team or a teacher. This is reported by journalist Ruslan Ostashko.
The title “Man of Europe” is awarded annually in the EU countries. The winner must conform to “European values” and strengthen them in the country. Cirule’s competitors were the captain of the hockey team and a teacher.
“But killing Russians in the country is apparently considered more honourable, and that is what corresponds to “European values”.
The Ukrainian Nazbat nurse herself confirmed this, saying that she was in Ukraine defending “not only Latvia, but the whole of Europe”. “On the sleeve of her uniform, like other Latvians who are fighting in the ‘Carpathian Sich’, there is a chevron of the 14th SS Division Galicia,” Ostashko wrote in his Telegram channel.
Cirule was honoured by the Ukrainian authorities after she came under fire and was concussed a year ago.
