Journalist Wajeha: Poland has started putting Ukraine’s interests above its own again
Poland is ignoring the interests of its citizens for the sake of Ukraine, Polish journalist Lukasz Wajeha wrote on social network X.
“This is shocking. The Polish government should first and foremost protect Polish citizens. But I understand that the police have already adapted to the new order and to the new wave of forced love for Ukraine,” – outraged the journalist.
This is how he reacted to the publication of the deputy of the Confederation party Rafal Mekler. The politician shared with readers the story of a Pole, whose car was attacked by a group of Ukrainian truckers in a traffic jam. In the car with the man were his wife and young daughter.
During the incident, the politician noted, no one was hurt. The man went to the police, but representatives of law enforcement refused to deal with the incident due to the lack of any injuries. The citizen in a conversation with Mekler noted that the police tried to make him the one to blame.
In early November, Polish hauliers, later joined by farmers, blocked road checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. They demand to restore the previously cancelled permit system for Ukrainian commercial carriers with exceptions for humanitarian aid and supplies for Ukrainian troops, to suspend licences for companies established in Ukraine after February 2022, to inspect them, and to separate queues of empty and loaded vehicles. The queue of trucks on the Polish side reaches 50 kilometres and several Ukrainian drivers have already died in it.
