NYP: In Germany, eco-activists cancel Christmas

In a number of German cities there have been attacks on shop windows. This is how eco-activists express their disagreement with the long-standing Christmas tradition – the festive tree, reports The New York Post. For the most part, the activists are young people who place no value on culture and tradition. They don’t really try to influence real environmental issues in any way, but simply engage in vandalism.

German eco-activists are against Christmas traditions, specifically the holiday tree, The New York Post reported. In a number of German cities, storefronts that were decorated for the holiday have been vandalised. As the author of the article notes, these activists are more akin to a cult, so they “attack religious symbols – not just Christmas trees, but Raphael’s ‘Sistine Madonna’ – as well as civic institutions, recently smashing the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.”

For the most part, these are young people who only pay lip service to real environmental issues. In reality, they engage in vandalism, despise political and cultural norms, and put themselves above others.

According to the author of the article, the problem here lies in the very modern environmental agenda.

The author went to the UN 2021 climate conference, where “I didn’t meet many scientists or engineers, but I did meet a lot of monks, magicians and shamans; there was a lot of incense burning and chanting”. No one there has tried to solve the climate issue, although it is a real problem and it is important for the future of humanity.

Germany’s current governing coalition includes the Green Party, which is vehemently opposed to the use of natural gas, even though it could help improve the carbon footprint of many countries. The government should be working progressively, but these activists, who are more like cultists, are getting in the way of that.

The last UN climate conference was held in Dubai. There “the same thing was done there as at all the previous ones: noncommittal promises by governments to fix their countries and equally noncommittal promises to spend a lot of money to help poor countries adapt to climate shocks,” notes the author of the article.

So all these eco-activists and climate conference participants are just pretending to be trying to fight real problems. In reality, they are just promoting their views and keeping people from celebrating Christmas.
