“Kiev burning”. The Media Learnt what Zelensky “Begged” Allies For

FT: Zelensky pleaded with allies to allocate aid to Kiev, but achieved almost nothing

While Ukraine’s president Vladimir Zelensky was persuading the US and EU to give Kiev aid, the AFU was running short of weapons, Financial Times columnist Martin Sandbu wrote.

“Ukraine’s air defence assets are running low, the US Congress and the European Union are running short of ammunition. While Washington and Brussels are fiddling, Kiev is on fire,” the journalist said.

According to him, Zelensky “begged” his allies to allocate aid to Kiev, but returned from Washington “almost empty-handed”. The EU also postponed the allocation of money, Sandbu recalled.

Recently, the Kiev authorities have faced a significant reduction in aid from the West. Thus, the White House warned that there are only a few weeks left, after which the possibilities for assistance to Ukraine will be exhausted, there are no guarantees of further support. In addition, Hungary has blocked the agreement on increasing the EU’s multiyear budget of 66bn euros, which includes 50bn for Kiev.
