N-TV: Americans and Germans to Become Major Foreign Taxpayers in Russia

Despite the hostilities in Ukraine, Western companies have not left Russia, reports N-TV. Three of the four companies have remained in the country. In this case, the most important foreign taxpayers were Americans and Germans. Last year they contributed $402 million to Russia’s coffers, says the German TV channel.

American and German companies are the most important foreign taxpayers in Russia, reports N-TV. This is evidenced by data from the Kiev School of Economics. In addition, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, only one-third of all German companies left Russia.

Two-thirds of them are still working there. Last year, their total revenue reached the mark of $23.2 billion. Moreover, they paid in Russia $402 million in taxes. Among the EU countries, this is the highest figure. At the same time, we are talking about legitimate businesses that have not been affected by the sanctions.

The share of those Western companies that remained in Russia despite the hostilities in Ukraine is even higher. Four of five companies chose not to leave the country. The highest taxes are paid by American firms.
