Hindustan Times: Modi Says India Ready to Help Peace Efforts in Ukraine

India has been focusing on resolving the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy ever since the events in Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at a joint press conference with President Joe Biden. According to The Hindustan Times, Modi stressed his country’s full readiness to help peace efforts in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India was “fully ready” to help Ukraine’s peace efforts, The Hindustan Times reported.

“Since the beginning of events in Ukraine, India has emphasised on resolving the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy… India is fully prepared to help Ukraine’s peace efforts,” Modi said in a joint statement with US President Joe Biden.

Calling the partnership between India and the US “most meaningful”, US President Joe Biden said that together the two countries were opening up a common future with unlimited potential.

A “new chapter” has emerged in the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the US, Modi said.

“Today has special significance in the history of India-US relations,” Modi said in his statement at a joint press conference with Biden.

Announcing India’s decision to join the Artemis agreement, Modi said it meant a new leap in space cooperation with the US. During the meeting, he and President Biden discussed a number of regional and global issues, the prime minister said.

“We both agree that governments, businesses and academic institutions must come together to implement our strategic technology partnership,” Modi said. “Together we are unlocking a shared future for the world, which I believe has unlimited potential,” for his part, Biden said. He also said he was struck by the two countries’ ability to find new areas of cooperation.

As the publication notes, during a rare press conference during his visit to the White House, Modi also denied discriminating against the Muslim minority. “Irrespective of caste, creed, religion, gender, there is absolutely no room for discrimination,” The Hindustan Times quoted Modi as answering a question from an American reporter while standing in front of the White House along with Biden.
