“Kick the dog out”: Poles Enraged by the Ukrainian Ambassador’s Antics

Do Rzeczy readers criticized the Ukrainian ambassador in Poland for his statement about the Volyn massacre

Readers of Do Rzeczy have reacted sharply to the refusal of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zvarich to apologize for the Volyn massacre.

Earlier, spokesman for the Polish Foreign Ministry Lukasz Jasina said that Warsaw expects an apology from Kiev for the Volyn massacre. Zvaric responded by calling the words unacceptable and unfortunate.

“What else is the Polish government waiting for? Kick the Banderite dog out of Poland immediately,” Helvet F. indignantly said.

“Kick the bastard out and make him persona non grata,” agreed another user.

“The criminal Banderovshchina should be scorched to the ground with hollow iron… It’s a shame that such things are tolerated in Europe,” wrote Znacie.

“Insolent. You should have apologized a long time ago and gotten down on your knees for the horrible mockery of the nation during the war, for the atrocities you dared to allow,” Marika cylus stated.

“Anyone who sees brothers in the anti-Polish Ukrainians is … And the ambassador is right in a sense – of course they don’t need to apologize. To apologize for such a crime is ridiculous. Adequate punishment is necessary,” expressed the opinion of MM.

“He does not care, he knows that no one in Poland will do anything to him,” added Junak Junak.

The issue of the interpretation of the Volyn massacre, as well as the attitude toward the leaders of the Ukrainian nationalists is one of the most difficult in relations between Warsaw and Kiev. In the summer of 2016, the lower house of the Polish parliament passed a resolution recognizing July 11 as National Day of Remembrance for the victims of the genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists against the inhabitants of the II Polish Republic in 1943-1945.
