In Spain, the World’s First Children Conceived by a Robot Born

The insemination of eggs with the help of a robot was carried out in Spain. Clever machine has succeeded – as a result of its participation a woman has given birth to two healthy babies, writes Indy100.

It is specified that the organizers of the startup Overture Life did not create anything new – there was a standard procedure of in vitro fertilization (IVF), which consists in introducing sperm into an egg outside the body. Such procedures are done all over the world in great numbers, although they are not cheap.

The uniqueness of the intervention carried out in Spain is that the sperm was injected into the egg by a robot controlled by a Playstation controller.

The author of the project, engineering student Eduard Alba is sure that his development will reduce IVF costs and make the procedure more accessible for more women dreaming to have children.

Reproductive surgeons appreciated the courageous step, but they are sure that this fertilization cannot be called fully robotic yet. The startup Overture Life has already attracted over 30 million euros for further development.

Earlier, the president of the Russian Association of Human Reproduction (RAHR), Professor Vladislav Korsak said that in the USA, twins were born from embryos frozen 30 years ago.
