The UK has sent Kiev thousands of ammunition for Challenger 2 tanks, including armor-piercing shells with depleted uranium. This was announced by the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom James Hippy.
“We have sent thousands of Challenger 2 munitions to Ukraine, including armor-piercing depleted uranium rounds. For operational security reasons, we will not comment on Ukraine’s use of the shells provided,” he said in a written response to a request from Scottish Alba MP Kenny MacAskill.
He pointed out that now the depleted uranium shells are controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and London will not monitor the places where these shells are used.
At the same time, as noted by the deputy minister, the UK has no obligation to help in the neutralization of shells of this type released by Ukraine after the end of the military special operation.
Ukrainian telegram channels covering the course of the special operation report that the depleted uranium shells have already been received.
